JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.
THEME: THE BANQUET IS READY, COME AND HONOR JESUS.
Beloved, the first thing that is good to know is that no one can walk by his merits before GOD.
And to say it, we are not well placed to start judging our brothers or others. This is why Jesus came full of grace and mercy for all those who would believe in him, sinners. This is also why he is the center of gravity of the faith that we profess.
Indeed, the real banquet that we are talking about here is JESUS CHRIST. Let us examine LUKE 14:1, to understand something: then it is clearly stated that on a Sabbath day, that is to say, the rest of GOD, Jesus was invited to the home of one of the leaders of the Pharisaic party and those who were at the table with him observed him attentively. A bit like us today, ready and quick to judge our brothers on one of their errors or weaknesses, but this should not be the case since we must also show grace to our brothers and not judge them according to the law like the Pharisees.
Moreover, the biblical story of LUKE 14:2-4 shows us more: here a dropsical man was there at this place and Jesus asked the Pharisees if it is permissible to heal a sick person on the Sabbath day and the Bible reveals that they did not answer and Jesus healed the sick person then sent him home free.
Then he said to them again, which of them, if his son or his ox falls into the well, will he not pull him out? There again they answered nothing. Then he began to tell them the parable of the guests in LUKE 14 following the continuation of the chapter and its verses. Up to this point, when we check carefully, we realize that Jesus did not eat the meal that had been served to him, but he himself was already serving healing to the sick person: this is why we mentioned above that he himself is the banquet that is being spoken of. We can therefore add that the parable of the guests reveals to us that among the guests in the end it was the publicans (people without faith or law) and the people of bad life who were attracted by Jesus and not the Pharisees and the other guests (all seeking places of honor) since the Lord himself gives them advice to know that when they organize a feast they invite the poor, the crippled, the lame and the blind, those who cannot repay them because GOD takes pleasure in this and this is how we are blessed in return.
It is clear that the problem raised in this portion of the word of GOD is the greed of the Pharisees but fundamentally, the word of GOD reveals in LUKE 14:15 that Blessed is he who will take his meal in the kingdom and GOD calls us to come and take everything that is prepared at his banquet table that is to say: the bread symbol of the body of Christ bruised on the cross for our healing, punished for our peace, he impoverished himself to enrich us from the rich that he was; the fruits that are on the table symbol of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the wine, symbol of the blood of Jesus shed on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins hence the Holy Supper. This is the banquet of Jesus Christ who gives us by favor and by grace to us who represent this biblical image of the crippled, the lame, the blind and the poor, those who need Jesus in all the situations of their life knowing that we have already received everything from the Father through our Lord and that it is enough to commune at his table to connect us to his infinite grace and to all these blessings that we already have in us by faith.
May the name of Jesus Christ be glorified in our lives!
Amen
