JESUS CHRIST IS LORD
THEME: SPEAK TO THE ROCK: JESUS, HIGH PRIEST ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEC.
Beloved, as the holy scriptures reveal to us in Ecclesiastes 1:9, that which has been is that which will be, and that which has been done is that which will be done so that there is nothing new with GOD under the sun. Thus said, God hides the future in the past. This is the reason why to understand certain things in the word of God, we must situate ourselves in time and space.
Such an attitude should lead us to review our way of praying, knowing that GOD owes nothing to anyone. Consequently, neither our fasts, nor our prayers, nor the promises of God for us oblige him to respond favorably to our requests. He gives us everything through his mercy and grace.
As an illustration, 1 Corinthians 10:4 says that these things happened to serve as examples for us, so that we would not have evil desires as they had (Israel). Indeed, at the entrance to the Promised Land, while 40 years before, God had erased the generation of Israelites who came out of Egypt because of murmurings and unbelief, the new generation falls into the same pitfalls, cf Numbers 20:1-13.
However, God, who no longer wants to use the same methods to eliminate unbelief, chooses to instruct Moses and Aaron (high priest) his brother to speak to the rock in the presence of the people, thus sanctifying the Lord.
Alas! exasperated, and in order to claim the divine miracle, Moses first calls God's people rebels, and asks them if it is from this rock that they will bring water for them, while striking it twice. Unfortunately for them, God's sentence is not long in coming: "You will not bring this assembly into the land that I give them!" Cf Numbers 20:12
Beloved, God loves his people; when he entrusts us with his sheep, no matter our good reasons, all he asks of the shepherd is to shepherd them, to take care of them. He has given everything to the Christian by pure grace and mercy by sacrificing his only beloved Son on the cross. All he orders us to do is to speak to the Rock, Christ Jesus, High Priest according to the order of MELCHISEDECK.
To do this, we must turn to the cross, reminding God the Father of the wonderful work of Jesus accomplished on the cross. We must use, not the rod of judgment like Moses, but the flowering rod (the almond tree) of Aaron, symbol of grace and mercy; while remembering this affirmation of Jesus in John 5:17 "My Father works until now; I also work."
Let us remain abundantly blessed in the name of Jesus Christ!
